R.I.P. Jim Meyers, We Called Him George “The Animal” Steele: A Wrestling Legend and Hall of Famer

George 1

George The Animal Steele was one of the greatest performers to ever grace the professional wrestling ring. Outside of George’s phenomenal wrestling career, George Steele has appeared in several movies, including Ed Wood, as well as world famous commercials with NBA legend Grant Hill. George Steele also found time to be a full time school teacher and athletics coach.

The morning of Friday February 17th, 2017 it was officially announced that Myers died in hospice care on the night of February 16, 2017 due to kidney failure. He was 79 years old. Jim Meyers will be honored, remembered and loved by his fans, friends, and family forever.

We honor him by giving you a treat from our archives. Last year Marc Charles had the honor and privilege of interviewing George The Animal Steele for almost a full hour of George Steele stories!
Enjoy, and please keep Jim Meyers’ family in your thoughts and/or prayers. RIP Jim.George Twitter
